Information about public transport services between Limerick and the airports that are regularly used by people visiting, studying, living or working in the Limerick area.
Shannon Airport
Buses:
Bus Éireann have two bus services between Shannon and Limerick:- Route 51 (Galway - Limerick - Cork) buses run every hour between 7am and 8pm (approx). Buses on this route do not stop between Shannon Airport and Limerck bus / train station.
Note that route x51 (Galway - Limerick express) does NOT go to the airport.
- Route 343 (Galway - Shannon / Shannon Airport / Ennis) is a multi-stop coach service, leaving from Limerick bus station, and picking up / dropping off at many bus stops along the way. Route map.
- Route x343 is a once-a-day variation of the regular route 343 timed for workers, with some extra stops.
JJ Kavanagh run a service between Shannon Airport and Dublin Airport (Zone 12), via Limerick city, Tipperary and Kildare.
- Route 735
- Round-the-clock, Monday-Sunday
- Six services daily from Shannon Airport, 8 from Dublin airport.
- Not all services cover the entire route: check their site for details.
- Intermediate stops at Limerick city (Arthurs Quay and UL Campus Stables), Belmount Cross, Dalys Cross, Annaholty Cross, Birdhill, Nenagh (Woodies and Credit Union), Toomevara, Moneygall, Roscrea, Borris-in-Ossory, Mountrath, Portlaoise, Kildare Outlet Village, and Dublin city (Luas Red Cow, Eden Quay, Convention Centre and Dublin 3 Arena.
Trains:
There is no train service to Shannon Airport.The closest railway station is at Sixmilebridge, which is about 15km east of the airport. There are around 9 trains per day between Sixmilebridge and Limerick, between 7am and 9pm. See Irish Rail's website for more information
Taxis / hackneys:
Many taxi and hackney companies will do a fixed-fare journey to Shannon Airport. You need to book in advance: always ask the company for advice about the time to allow, as it can take longer in heavy traffic.Dublin Airport
Route x12 has runs between Limerick Bus station and Dublin Airport (Attrium Rd, Zone 12) Monday-Sunday, ever two hours between 6am and 8pm.
Citylink's Eireagle:
Monday-Sunday service, 16 buses daily between Limerick City and Dublin Airport, with only one stop at Hurlers, Dublin Rd, Limerick (for UL and Castletroy passengers). Details here.
Dublin Coach:
The M7-Express service runs between Tralee / / Limerick and Dublin - and stops at Red Cow to connect to their N7 bus which goes to Dublin Airport. Details here.

Cork Airport
- Bus Éireann run regular services to Cork city (see Limerick regional buses - coming soon): from Cork bus-station you can connect with Cork city bus 226 to the airport.
Kerry Airport (Farranfore)
Ireland West / Knock
There is no direct transport from Limerick.
